EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
After practicing for two years as a medical technologist he/ she
can apply to the Health Professions Council of South Africa to
practice privately. This means that a technologist could work for
themselves or enter a group practice with a medical doctor.
PROSPECTS
There is always a need for registered medical technologists due
to the rapid development of medical sciences. Medical
technologists are employed by the State, South African Institute
for Medical Research, University pathology departments as well as
private pathology practices.
GENERAL
Specialist and post qualification courses are available through
the technikons, where he/ she could study part time for a B.Tech,
Masters or Doctorate.
This office does not act as an employment bureau, nor is the
society able to provide bursaries to students.
Disabled persons may also register as medical technologists as
long as they conform to the necessary requirements.
